4 Ways to Keep Members Engaged All Summer

Member retention during the summer is a challenge our clients are faced with every year. Instead of just worrying about the club down the street, they are now competing against sunshine and fresh air. There is a huge opportunity for us in the fitness industry to keep these members engaged, despite the draw of the great outdoors, so how do we do it?

The Business of Baseball, Playing the Percentages

I’m listening to the Colorado Rockies’ opening day game and instead of a baseball game it’s a “walk-a-thon.” Okay, I’m not enjoying the game, but it triggered this thought.  They say that baseball is a “thinking man’s game”, meaning that you’re always trying to think one step ahead, based on the statistical trends of the past.  If you think about it, this is exactly the same way we should be managing our companies. I’ll expand on my thought. Baseball coaches are constantly quizzing their fielders about situations.  Situational awareness is a trait valued on a personal level as well as your business collectively. What will you do if the ball is hit to right field? Or a long fly ball? How about a soft grounder with a runner on first and third, or second base only? This may seem intuitive, but keep in mind there are a finite number of actions for each scenario, each with a statistical probability for success.  We want to ...

March Madness

Just three months ago, new members flocked into your club with dreams and resolutions of becoming more healthy, fit and reaching the goal they had set in their mind. This is traditionally the time of year that those members start dropping off the attendance list, losing track of their dreams and realize they're not reaching that goal. They need help.
